PET PORTRAITS
I like to draw and paint. I’m self-taught and have been busy with my brushes for about 12 years. Of course I’d love to be a Monet, producing impressionistic landscapes of this beautiful island. Unfortunately, I don’t have an impressionistic bone in my body as I’m a stickler for detail. Rather than fighting that fact, resulting in many disappointments, this winter I decided try to develop the skills which I DO have. I like to work with pen and ink with watercolour mainly, although latterly I’ve enjoyed using colour pencils. I’ve also discovered that animals, not landscapes, appear to be my forte, fur and feathers satisfying my love of detail. So, at the end of the B and B season, there’s plenty of time to indulge my new-found passion. (There’s even the occasional wet afternoon during the season too when I can put a pen to paper!) After displaying some of my work on our website, I’m thrilled to say that I am currently working on my second commission! So, here are the same portraits should any of you Garybuie’s Blog followers wish to have a portrait of their pet pouch, pussy cat or poultry! (Portraits marked ‘C’ are from photographs by Cecilia, a lady in Illinois who is most generous with her photographs. Without her generosity, my practice subjects would have been very limited indeed. I am greatly indebted to her.)
If you would like to commission a portrait of your pet, then email me at garybuie@btopenworld.com Prices start at £30 and depend upon the complexity of the subject/size. ( No payment is required unless completely satisfied with the portrait)

I was just going to suggest that you check the Pet Portraits page and see who’s at the top! It’s hardly surprising that you missed him when you’ve just upped sticks and moved to the other side of the country! Hope that you’re all settled in now and enjoying being closer to family.
Christine
P.S. If there’s a particular portrait that you’d like then I would be happy to do one for you as a thank-you for letting me borrow your lovely animals!

That is so kind of you, but so not necessary. I actually was thinking about who I’d want to you draw/paint, but I will insist on paying you. 🙂

How weird that I’m sitting here on my laptop chatting to you on the opposite side of the Atlantic on yours! What time is it for you? Almost 6.30p.m. here and dark.
