HOW many ducklings?!!

42! They’re all over the place! At the last blog there were eight for Biggles/Puff/musco-teer, eight for the polytunnel musco-teer and three rescue ducklings. We now have TWELVE rescue ducklings and Auntie Puff, seemingly fed up of competing with Biggles and friend, appears to be happy keeping an eye on the orphans.

Then to cap it all, the musco-teer residing under the over-by coop emerged with FOURTEEN youngsters!

After much discussion, the polytunnel and ‘under-by’ musco-teers decided to join forces and have continued to do so since. The ducklings however seem to be quite happy doing a mum-swap now and then so it’s very difficult trying to keep track of them all!

So, it goes something like this: any duckling fancying a wee adventure, then the musco-teer team is the choice, venturing into the long grass and more distant puddles in the field behind Garybuie. Preferring the nearer puddles and shorter grass just outside the fence and inside the garden, then Biggles and friend tick all the right boxes. Needing a wee siesta or just some quiet time, auntie Puff is just the ticket! Hopefully we’ll manage to hang on to all these small lives but with such large numbers, someone’s bound to get lost and there’s not much we can do about it other than rely on Muscovy motherly skills.

Good Grief!!! Just think how much more complicated serving breakfast would be with 12 duckies quacking along behind you 🙂 Erhh, could you give each guest a living souvenir from their stay?
Good luck and keep us posted. Laura
