Happy days.

Let the annual apologies commence! Yup, the B and B season is gathering speed, daily routines are changing and it takes me a wee while to find my new diurnal rhythm. Unfortunately it tends to be my blog which takes a back seat to ironing sheets and welcoming guests!

Anyway just a brief catch-up. The main events this week have been happy ones! Brenda has perked up considerably; all bright-eyed and big-tailed!

The second happy event was when the thief of Brenda’s nest emerged with two chicks. I know, only two isn’t great, but it’s her first time so we’ll forgive her! She did hatch four, but two died. At first she was reluctant to come out of the coop, so we put a temporary enclosure in front of the coop which boosted her confidence no end! She was soon out for what I’m sure was a much enjoyed dust bath. If you look carefully at the picture, you can just see the two chicks peeping through the door.

It didn’t take too long before the chicks finally emerged. By the next day, we could take down the fence and the Nest Thief is content to wander with her wee family.

We’re having some wonderful weather at the moment and today’s another hot one. Too hot in fact for many of the chores I’d planned. So maybe I’ll just take a walk around the place and see what I can find to share with you!

We only have two rooms but as you know, this is a busy time of year with other things too. So yes, they are long, busy days and I LOVE it! Maybe I will blog about the BandB thing – it would make a change from chicks and ducks I guess!
